This review applies to ALL Speck CandyShell brand cases for iPhone 3G/3GS.
So I had this case for maybe a month or two before the thin covering between the home button and the sync plug cracked, then broke. Up until that point, I was completely infatuated with the case. After the other side of the same part cracked, I took a pair of scissors and snipped the rubber and just took the piece off the case. About a month or two later, a woman with the same exact case came into my work, I commented that I had the same case, come to find out that hers also cracked in the same spot!
This case is definitely durable enough to withstand keeping your phone safe for the 2 years of your contract, even with the malfunctioning piece at the bottom, but it will leave it vulnerable to get small scratches and dents where the piece should be (around the silver lining/antenna). This seems to be a common problem in all the cases similar to this one, so don't be disappointed if this happens to you. The case is still pretty good quality, and although I have since replaced the case with one of a different brand, I would still recommend it to others. After all, it is a very nice case.

The simple cell phone case arrived all nice and tight in it's package and it was chipped/broken in one corner creating a sharp edge. Returned it and have yet received another.

Durable & attractive, but has a weak spot Dec 26, 2010

This is my second CandyShell case by Speck. I LOVE the color of this one, and I'm not even the biggest fan of purple. However, like others have said, the bottom part of the case is weak, and will eventually split (which is the reason why this is the second case I've had). I've even seen a few random people that have torn off the bottom portion after it breaks because it still seems to protect the phone well without it. I might try a little bit of super glue to mend the problem now that it has happened with my second case too.
My other complaint is that the rubbery part of the case does wear a bit loose after taking the phone out of the case too many times. I have to do this often, as the Apple A/V cables don't fit well into the headphone jack hole (but most people probably don't use those, but I do to connect my phone to my car)
I do still give this case four stars because it keeps my phone better protected than any of the other cases that I've owned.

I just got this case for my wife's iphone, and she loves it. It is pretty durable, and she hasn't had any problems with it so far. The only thing she said was that in the picture, it looks like a dark purple, but it really isn't all that dark. Still, purple is her favorite color and she has already gotten a lot of complements on this case. Good case for the money!

This product is already falling apart and once its on i am unable to put my device on my docking station to listen to tunes without taking it off and it is really difficult to get off.
